Swahili or Zanzibar door. These heavy and ornamented doors are the product of the mixture of Arab and the native people of East Africa known as Swahili people. The doors were done in the 19th century, and found in Zanzibar, Lamu and Bagamoyo. The antique doors indicate wealth and power. There is a divider in the middle of the door where it opens inward. There is a bar in side to close the door during the night and a heavy chain with a big lock outside. These antique ornamented doors are quite historical in east Africa.
